Summary
In the beginning of Part Four, the Thunderhead stated that it made a law against worshipping it. In Chapter 24, Citra and Scythe Curie arrived in Wichita for Citra’s third gleaning. A Tonist monk knocked on the door to their hotel room. Citra thought he planned to attack her, so she broke his arm. When she realized her mistake, she told the monk, named Brother McCloud to let his nanites heal him, but he said that he had removed them. Scythe Curie insulted the Tonist faith and their lack of reason, but McCloud insisted that only the extremist sects were bad. Curie made a splint for McCloud’s arm. After he left, Curie explained to Citra that while she did not like Tonists, she still respected their right to exist. She admitted that her brother had joined a Tonist cult and died. At...
