Chapters 16-20 Summary

In Chapter 16, Andrew makes a stone carving of a horse and leaves it anonymously for AnnaLise, confident she will be able to guess who it is from. However, a few days later Andrew learns that AnnaLise believes the carving was from Bennie. Then, when some kids tease Bennie for walking to school everyday, AnnaLise suggests he ride her wild thoroughbred, Jalahar. Ham tells Andrew that he has made a bet that Andrew can ride Jalahar longer than Bennie. Filled with jealousy, Andrew agrees to ride the wild horse despite his inexperience in riding such untrained horses. Andrew lasts only six seconds and breaks his arm in two places and his collar bone.
