Flagstaff is Gabe’s home in "In Time" and the place he is desperate to get away from. All of the citizens live in trailers on the fairgrounds as homes and businesses are left empty in the city itself (as no one can afford Rent). This is where the reader is first introduced to anti-rehabilitation camp protestors, as well as where Gabe explains what happened to the kids seven years prior. When Gabe finds a way to escape - leaving behind both his mother and the memory of his father’s suicide - he never returns, resolving to help Zu find her Uncle in California instead.
