Gabe

Gabe is the main character and narrator of "In Time." At the beginning of the book, Gabe is incredibly selfish and looking to turn in the escaped kids for money to better his future. Over the course of the story, however, he comes to care for Zu and realizes the pain she has dealt with. This pushes him to fight for the kids despite the risks to himself. However, Gabe is shot at the end of the book by a scared girl who thinks he was kidnapping Zu. It is heavily implied that he died because of this, and Zu mourns his loss.
