chapters 41-50 Summary
In chapter forty-one, late at night, Celaena is in bed, studying Wyrdmarks again. She has discovered the symbol under her bed is the symbol for a ridderak, a monster that kills humans and gives its victim's strength it its summoner. Celaena suspects Nehemia now more than ever. She goes into the tunnels to see if the monster is down there. She discovers Cain down inside the tunnels, not Nehemia.
In chapter forty-two, Celaena sees the ridderak appear. Cain spots her, then traps her in the chamber with the beast. She waits until the monster charges her, then jumps over it. The ridderak breaks through a door, and Celaena escapes through it, running towards Elena's tomb. She grabs the king's sword once inside of it, and kills the monster. She recovers slowly, then returns to her chambers. Nehemia joins her, and she...
