Chapter 6 Summary

Stephanie climbs into her car and calls Morelli, forgetting for a moment that he might want to arrest her. Stephanie tells Morelli what happened, then hangs up before he can tell her what it is he has been trying to ask. Stephanie goes over to her parents' house for dinner. Stephanie has only been there long enough to tell her mother and grandmother the story of how she happened to wake up in Mo's store next to a dead man when Morelli shows up. Stephanie's mother invites Morelli to dinner. Stephanie sits through dinner expecting Morelli to arrest her at any moment. Rather than allow him to do that, Stephanie sneaks out of the house before dessert. Stephanie goes to her friend Mary Lou's house to hide out, but she is just as uncomfortable around Mary Lou's children as she is Morelli.
