Chapter 2 Summary

Stephanie and Lula go inside Mo's apartment and give it a cursory walk through before they are interrupted by a beat cop. Stephanie explains the situation to the cop, another friend, who instructs them to leave. Stephanie is discouraged. Stephanie had half expected to find Mo passed out on the bathroom floor or to see evidence of an abduction. Stephanie finds neither. The apartment is neat and all of Mo's personal belongings appear to be undisturbed. Stephanie leaves Mo's and discovers that Lula has left. Stephanie goes to her parents' house in hopes of getting a ride. Stephanie tells her mother and grandmother who she is looking for. Both ladies are shocked that Mo would do anything to require a bounty hunter coming after him and more shocked that Stephanie would agree to go after Mo. Stephanie's mother is also worried that she...
