Summary

In Chapter 19, Antonio drops back to a memory. When he was young, he heard his parents discussing a university professor who was their colleague. This man was about 50-years-old when he left his wife to begin a relationship with a woman half his age. Antonio took away the message that “a couple might separate and divorce, but that it wasn't right for a university professor to get together with one of his students” (126). A couple of years later, his parents told Antonio his Father was moving out. They made the distinction that they were not getting a divorce but they were separating.
