Summary

In Chapter 6, Antonio had been depressed before the visit to Marseilles, but his life returns to normal. He describes fitting in with his peers but seeking always to be different. He resumes reading and begins to imagine a future in which he writes, illustrates, and makes movies based on characters that become famous. He briefly has a girlfriend, but it is not serious. One important event was a boy named Enrico who committed suicide by jumping from a rooftop. Antonio had once jumped from a high diving board, and he “had time to think” on the way to the water. He believes that the time Enrico had during the fall was “the most terrible part” (29). Antonio barely knew this boy, but he and his peer discuss the lack of evidence Enrico was suicidal.
