The Calivista Motel/Calivista Hostel Motel

The Calivista Motel is the motel owned by Mia's family and the many people who invested with them. It is a small hotel but earns a good return for the investors. There are some people who live here on a permanent basis, and some of those have become family to Mia and her family.

Monterey Park

Monterey Park is a large Chinese shopping district near the Calivista. Mia calls it “China outside China.” This is where she and her father have red bean shaved ice, which is one of the indications that Mia's tastes have changed.
