Summary
In Chapter 30, Ammanee and Stella discuss how Claudette has said she will not help them. She needs to look out for herself. Claudette says that Janie and she know what it is like to have gone through the auction block. She says, “The only thing worth trying to save in this world is yourself” (174). She says that banknotes are all that she trusts.
