Summary

Chapter 20: Confessions

Kiera ducks into the ladies’ room to pull herself together. When she emerges, Denny approaches her carefully as Griffin hollers his approval where the slap was concerned. Denny asks her if she is okay, telling her the whole bar is talking about her and Kellan. She tells him that Kellan slept with Anna and broke her heart and she was defending her sister’s honor. Denny swallows her story and decides to stay at Pete’s for dinner. When Evan and Kellan emerge from the back room, he keeps his head down and quietly leaves the bar. Denny leaves after he eats, and Kiera manages to get through the night, after which Jenny offers her a ride home.

When they get out to the parking lot, Kellan is waiting. He kisses her until she is breathless, and then despite the hour...
