Chapter 4: Changes

Working opposite shifts means that Kiera and Denny spend little time together other than the weekend afternoons before her shift or her nights off during the week. Denny comes in with Kellan frequently and before Kiera knows it, it is July. Denny is called into work on July 4th, so Kiera spends the day tanning outside. Later, he comes into Pete’s during her shift and when the fireworks start, they all shift outside to watch until Pete calls them back to work.

Two weeks later, everything changes. Kiera is at work, watching Griffin as he reveals his newest tattoo when Denny comes in and tells her that he has been asked to set up the new office located in Tucson. Kiera is stunned to learn he’ll be gone a couple of months or so, knowing that with school starting...
