Briseis Greene

Known as Bri, she is the narrator of this novel. Bri is the biological daughter of Selene Colchis who gave Bri up for adoption in an effort to protect her from a dangerous family responsibility. Bri was raised by her mothers, Thandie and Angie. She feels fortunate that they have always been entirely devoted to her. As the novel comes to an end, Bri feels that their love and support has prepared her to live a life that includes her biological Aunt Circe. The fact that Bri can recognize her mothers' influence is one of many signs of her maturity and thoughtful nature.
