Summary

In Chapter 11, Bri pretends she is being left behind as Circe and Persephone prepare to embark on this quest. When Bri asks, “How do we combine the six pieces,” Angie gives her a look that prompts her to rephrase as “How are y'all going to put all the pieces back together?” (145). Karter calls, repeatedly apologizing. Bri remembers how important his friendship felt, and is furious at the betrayal. Karter urges Bri to hide from his family. After they hang up, he texts the word “Abana” to her. Dr. Grant arrives. Bri and the others watch the awkward exchanges between Dr. Grant and Circe. Dr. Grant has video of Karter boarding a plane at a private airstrip near the town of Red Hook. She knows very little, except that the flight originated in Turkey.
