Summary
Alice wakes up in her childhood bedroom in Chapter 44. She pets Ursula as she waits for Leonard to enter her room. When he does, Alice suggests they go on a jog that day. She is determined to instill healthy habits in him while she still can. Chapter 45 briefly outlines several different outcomes of Alice’s life at age forty. In no lifetime is Leonard healthy.
Chapter 45, 46, and 47 describe different versions of Alice’s sixteenth birthday. Alice always makes sure Sam suggests to Leonard that he write a story with a female protagonist. In one life Sam and Alice flirt with a writer at Leonard’s convention. In another, Alice has sex with Tommy at his place.
In Chapter 48, Alice recognizes patterns in her time travel adventures. If she sleeps with Tommy and tells him to marry or date her, she ends...
