Summary
Alice wakes up in a large bed in Chapter 36. She checks her calendar. It is the day after her fortieth birthday. Tommy enters, returning from his run. Alice feels shy around him and avoids watching him change. Tommy reminds her that she is to go for her run, watch their children, see her father, and attend her birthday party that day. Alice feels comfortable around her children, Dorothy if four and Leo is five. Alice and Tommy live at the San Remo, an expensive apartment building.
Alice jogs in Chapter 37. An annoying Belvedere mom stops her to wish her a happy birthday. Alice arrives at Pomander. She pets Ursula and notes the slight changes in the apartment.
