Family Relationships
Through the narration of Bri, the novel demonstrates how family relationships are the most important ones in a young person's life. As the novel opens, Bri's closest relationships are with her adopted mothers. Thandie and Angie. However, Bri discovers that there is no denying the pull of biological relationships.
Bri was adopted at a young age by Thandie and Angie. Her nicknames for her two mothers is one hint about their relationships.
