Briseis Greene

Briseis Greene, known as Bri, is the narrator of this novel. She is the biological daughter of Selene who apparently gave her up in an effort to protect her from the family “gift.” She is the adopted daughter of Angie and Thandi. In this guide, she is called Bri -- except when in direct quotes. Now a teenager, Bri has always had the ability to manipulate plants but has been having trouble controlling that power since she was about 12 years old. As the novel begins, Bri discovers she has a natural immunity to poisonous plants. This affinity to plants is the result of her biological family, meaning her adoptive moms have no way of knowing about it or how to help her control it.
