Summary
In Chapter 16, Tambu gets to know the other shopkeepers and workers in her new office building. One of them is Mai Moetsebi, a woman from Botswana who runs the Queen of Africa Boutique. Mai Moetsebi flies to Beijing and Singapore in search of silks and trinkets. Her accomplishments encourage Tambu. Months into her work at the safari company, Tambu observes a crowd gathered around the Queen of Africa. They are concerned that Mai Moetsebi is cheating them.
Tracey hires a second employee, Pedzi. Pedzi is becoming secretive; Tracey learns that she has been working on a proposal for low-budget excursions into high-density suburbs. As Pedzi’s success increases, Tambu grows jealous.
