Red

Red is a soldier in the Time War that works for the Agency. Her role seems to mainly be ensuring that events are set up correctly such that advancements in technology can proceed as normal throughout the world; for some reason, she needs to go back in time to accomplish this, as there is a time war being waged by her Agency and the group that Blue belongs to, the Garden.

The Agency is a highly technological group, so Red lacks many of the basic needs that readers are used to humans needing. She claims that she does not feel a necessary hunger for food like humans normally do, but she just eats because she likes doing it anyway.

Over the course of the novel, Red falls in love with Blue. What they bond over is the fact that they are both different from many of the other...
