Summary

Chapter 22 begins with Red passing through strands. Commandant was apparently angry at her for “exposing herself…in the apothecary’s shop,” and Red “claimed she had to see” in order to tell if Blue was actually killed (174). Depressed, she spends time underground in London for awhile. Above ground again, she sees a boy “die on a bed” in a house that is posed exactly like Blue was when she died, but “his hair is red” (176). She wonders whether this is a trap, or if Blue is somehow sending this message to her. She decides to “climb and [go] seeking” Blue through strands in the hopes that she can reach her, even though this is a dangerous plan (179).
