Summary

Titled: "Miss Lora"

This story is written in a series of letters told in the second person. Although it is never stated, it’s implied that Yunior is writing them to himself. At first, he’s talking about how hard it was to lose his brother to cancer. Yunior is now a senior in high school, but doesn’t want to go on to college. He’s convinced that the world is going to end in nuclear war, a topic he constantly raises with his girlfriend Paloma. Things aren’t going well with Paloma because she won’t get physical with him.

Yunior starts to flirt and eventually spend time with his neighbor, Miss Lora. The two end up getting into a very physical relationship, but Yunior doesn’t tell Paloma about it. Miss Lora starts to see other men, which angers...
