Summary

Unlike the other chapters thus far, this story is written from the perspective of Yasmin, who is from Samaná. She now lives in the United States and works at a hospital doing laundry. She’s very close to her roommate, Ana Iris, who also left her family behind to come to the United States. Yasmin is sleeping with Ramón, who also left his family behind. He has several sons and a wife, Virta, who still constantly writes to him. Yasmin and Ramón are searching for a house. He has been saving up for the last eight years. All the houses he looks at are run down, but he’s still determined to get one.
