Summary

In Chapter 29, Latika helps Minni learn how to attract the attention of motorists stopped at a traffic light. Minni has trouble making sales, and watches Latika who constantly shows “fake happy energy” to her potential customers. Latika points out a girl nearby who is holding a baby and selling flowers. Minni is sure the girl is only 16 or 17. Minni tells Latika how difficult it has been to meet her responsibilities. Latika says school was difficult which led her to drop out. She promises to help with Minni's water so Minni can get back to school. After spending the day working with Latika, Minni is more determined to work hard at school. She thinks about all the people who work long hours at difficult jobs with little pay. She promises to be in school the next day.
