Summary

In Chapter 7, Minni and Sanjay try to act as if nothing happened. Ma notices Minni is unusually quiet and checks to see if she has a fever. Minni stops at a “makeshift temple” on her way to school. She tells Faiza she prayed the man would forget he saw Sanjay and Amit. Faiza has been praying for the same thing. Faiza and Minni struggle as Miss Shah teaches math. That afternoon, Ram is at Minni's house with a newspaper article about the “water mafia's” control over the city. The adults have decided to send Sanjay and Amit to Ram's relative at a farm in New Delhi. Members of the water mafia steal water and sell it at a profit, and Ram believes Ravi has identified Sanjay and Amit. Minni wants to call the police, but the adults do not think officials will listen...
