Summary

In Chapter 26, Sloane texts Naomi and tells her that Chloe, Sloane’s niece, told her that there is a teacher at Waylay’s school who is picking on her because of Tina. Naomi leaves work to go to the school. The teacher, Mrs. Felch tells Naomi that she treats Waylay “the way the daughter of a whore deserves to be treated” (278).

Chapter 27 is told from Knox’s perspective. He arrives at the Honky Tonk, and the women start talking about how Mrs. Felch’s husband slept with Tina. Knox goes to his truck to go to the school and help defend Waylay, but he is met at the truck by Naomi’s parents who tell him that Waylay is missing. Knox tells Amanda and Lou that he is going to the school because, “I’m sure as hell gonna have your daughter...
