Summary

Chapter 11 is told from the perspective of Naomi. Naomi arrives at the Honky Tonk for her first shift. It is a busy night, so Max trains Naomi quickly and gives her her own tables. As Naomi is walking through the bar, she runs into Knox who does not know she was offered a job there and does not want her working there. Naomi is not pleased to learn that Knox is part of the management. He tries to fire her, but Fi insists Naomi stays unless Knox is willing to take her tables. Knox agrees to let Naomi stay for one shift as long as she does not make any mistakes. Knox refers to Naomi as an “uppity, needy pain in the ass” (116).
