Point of View
Things We Hide from the Light is told from the first-person point of view of the two protagonists, Nash and Lina. Each character narrates approximately half of the book. Because this is a romance novel involving these two characters, this alternating point of view serves multiple purposes. First, it allows the reader to understand how both of the characters feel as the relationship progresses. Lina has things she is not telling Nash, and so when the reader hears Lina’s perspective, the reader understands how she feels about these secrets. Nash’s main conflict throughout the novel is an internal one where he has to learn to overcome depression, self-doubt, and panic.
