Nash Morgan

Nash is the male protagonist in the novel. Prior to the start of this novel, he was shot in the line of duty. He is a police officer, and he experiences a major decrease in confidence due to the shooting because he now does not believe that he can take care of himself much less anybody else. He keeps much of this to himself. He falls into depression and he experiences panic attacks. He believes he will have to stop down at one point from his spot as chief because he cannot remember what happened at the shooting.

Nash is in a dark place when he meets Lina, but Lina makes him feel something. She makes him feel safe, and she also angers him at times and sexually arouses him. All of these states are preferable to him than feeling numb. He clings to Lina, but he...
