Chapters 7 and 8 Summary
Bobby leaves the hospital, taking a taxi home and turns on the alarm system after he gets all the doors locked and shades down in the house. While Bobby has been home alone before, it has never been like this, never overnight and without anyone else in the house.
Bobby finds that his time alone in the house is very monotonous. He does the same things over and over again. His mother calls to check in and bark orders, just as she would if she were home, so that part of his life has not changed. Bobby is also able to talk to his dad on the phone for the first time. Mrs. Trent, the nosy neighbor brings cookies over for Bobby, but he tells her that he has the flu and Aunt Ethel is upstairs taking a bath. Mrs. Trent...
