Summary
In the essay, "What you need to know about why that Felicia girl's mother hates me," Backman explains some of the comical situations in which his immature outlook on parenting has gotten him in trouble with other adults, and moreover, how there are a lot of unwritten rules in parenting. For example, in conversation with a nurse, Backman suggested smoking as a way to curb appetite. Another time he referred to the playpen as the octagon. Backman jokes that being a good parent is putting down other parents to make yourself feel like a good one. This means ridiculing other parent's choices in furniture that does not have an organic plastic certification, or giving their kids toys that allegedly causes brain cancer...
