Summary
In Chapter 9, Joy felt uncomfortable because Molly and her daughter-in-law, Coco had insisted on taking care of Thanksgiving dinner. Joy wanted to take care of everything like she always had, but knew she was unable to do so. Freddie, and then Ben, arrived for dinner. When Molly mentioned that she missed Ben, Joy commented that Molly did not like it when she told Molly she missed her. Throughout dinner, Aaron howled as if in pain with his cries becoming more urgent.
The family escorted Aaron through the lobby to a taxi to go to the hospital. At the hospital, he was too weak to even stand up and had to be assisted by a security guard. Joy was devastated because she had forgotten to put Aaron’s real shoes on.
