Juliette Cai

Juliette Cai is one of the two main characters of the novel and daughter to Lord and Lady Cai. It is revealed later on that her Chinese name is Junli, but she chose the name Juliette while she lived in America. Throughout the novel, Juliette struggles with her sense of belonging. She wants to embrace the Western culture she grew up in while also leading the Scarlet Gang as its heir. As a character, Juliette embraces violence and intimidation and is willing to kill and threaten anyone to protect herself and her friends. She is also incredibly intelligent as shown by all the languages she speaks and how she handles the madness. At the end of the novel, Juliette shows her compassion when she saves Alisa by pretending to kill Marshall which allows Roma and the others to escape from Tyler’s wrath.
