Summary
As Chapter 46 begins, Frankie had lost track of days and time. Stotts still insisted on heading east, but he no longer hurried. Frankie tried to comfort him, saying that England does not get that cold, so a sweater would be enough.
That night, Frankie asked if Stotts' wife and daughter were in the countryside. He said they were in Norfolk. Frankie bluffed that Norfolk had a lot of carrot farms, and they would be ready for harvest now. Even a child could yank one out.
Each day, they moved on to a different house, rummaging for food and new clothes. They did not travel very far between houses because the weather was getting colder. The beagle stayed near the group, but the bonobos never let it fully mingle.
