Summary
Chapter 32 covers Day 2 of the storm. When Frankie used the restroom, several bonobos watched. She had to pour water into the bowl to make it flush, and this morning the faucets only produced cold water.
Frankie and Stotts cut up the rest of the pumpkins. The bonobos did not want to eat pumpkin yet again, so the fruit just sat there. The heat pump in the deep freeze had been running backward, actually heating the food inside. Everything in the deep freeze and refrigerator smelled rotten.
Stotts broke open a 3–D cartridge and tried to eat the putty inside, but it tasted like plastic and was hard to chew. The pantry had mostly dehydrated food. Nothing contained fruit, the bonobos’ primary diet.
