Summary
Chapters 13 and 14 cover Day 9 in the novel. In the tourist area, Frankie asked Stotts who might know when each female bonobo was ovulating, and he said no one knew. She wondered how she might find out. With humans, she could pinpoint ovulation with urine or blood samples.
During this conversation, Frankie was seated in a chair, and Stotts was standing. A female tourist was clearly attracted to Stotts, admiring his body. Frankie got up from the chair and stood close, feeling proud that she was working with him. The woman noticed Frankie’s bony limbs and hunched posture, and her expression changed to pity.
