Summary
Chapters 8 and 9 cover Day 6 in the novel. As Chapter 8 begins, Frankie tried to adjust the E-musement system in her apartment, which displayed images on a wall in the living room. It turned on with the lights whenever Frankie came home. An avatar delivered the news while text scrolled across the screen. Frankie was unable to change the settings by commanding her Bindi, probably because her BodyWare needed an update, so she turned the volume off on her EarDrums. Images on the screen showed extreme weather and cyberattacks. Any time she sat up in bed, the screen turned on, without sound.
In Stotts’ office, Frankie noticed the lack of personal touches, other than a Moments cube which displayed images with small shifts in motion, featuring his wife and daughter. Through the Lenses of Tess’ parents, Frankie could see how the little girl looked at them...
