Importance: Marcela always dresses nicer than her husband does, and her office is more organized. As a female lawyer, she understands the inequities between the sexes in her profession. She disagrees that women should be held to a higher standard, but since the standard is there, she lives up to what is required of her.
The mere fact that a good lawyer kept saying that Mr. Duffy killed his wife made his theory sound believable. Mr. Mount had always taken the position that the presumption of innocence is a joke nowadays. The presumption is one of guilt.
