Summary

Theo starts the day after a night of nightmares. He has decided that he cannot break his promise and that it is not his problem if Mr. Duffy is not found guilty. He goes to Uncle Ike for advice. Theo shares what he can with his uncle and his uncle says that the trial will likely end this week. The prosecution’s case is weak. Ike tells Theo that a judge in a criminal trial has the authority to declare a mistrial if he or she thinks something improper is happening. If a mistrial is declared, the trial is considered over and a new one is held.
