Summary
As Mr. Moore’s class heads towards lunch, Mr. Moore listens amusedly as they discuss the case. When he again asks people if they think Mr. Duffy is guilty or innocent, Theo refuses to answer because he believes Mr. Duffy is guilty but does not think it will be able to be proven. They realize that the prosecution cannot prove that Mr. Duffy was there when the crime was committed. The students want to return to the trial the next day, but they cannot because of school. Mr. Duffy and his lawyers enter the deli where the class eats, and Omar Cheepe, an investigator sometimes referred to as “an armed thug,” is with them (76).
