Summary

Thirteen-year-old Theodore Boone eats breakfast alone as his father usually leaves their clock-riddled home early and his mother chooses not to eat breakfast. Both of his parents are busy lawyers. He has one dog named Judge, who Theodore rescued from Animal Court. He rides his bike to school, but first he stops at the county courthouse where he sees his friend, April Finnemore, whose parents are going through a nasty divorce. Her parents are making her testify in court as to whom she wants to live with, but she does not want to live with either of them. As a thirteen-year-old, her decision as to whom she wants to live with is not binding. She wants to move in with her aunt, but the judge will not let her.
