Summary
Ellie had followed Noelle to her house under the premise of receiving a practice paper for her math exam. There, Noelle offered her a glass of juice, and Ellie woke up twelve hours later in Noelle's basement.
Upon inspection of her confines the following morning, Ellie realized that it would be futile to hope that anyone might see her through one of the tiny basement windows. When Noelle came down to see her, she attempted to knock her out with a chair but fails. Noelle tied her feet together and promised her treats if she behaved.
As days continue to pass, Ellie asked Noelle why she was being held in her basement, to which Noelle replied that she has a plan, she was only waiting for “a couple of things to slot into place” (234). Meanwhile, she promised to bring Ellie a surprise.
