Summary

In Chapter 19, Lauren decides to stay with Felix for a week while he is away in Switzerland. Their dynamic is stable before he leaves. After he goes, Lauren sometimes feels “a little lonely,” and reaches out to Toby, “drafts . . . email[s] to Carter,” and tries keeping in touch with Nat and her mother (141). One day, she discovers that Felix works for a dubious surveillance company. The discovery explains the cameras she found around the house and at the flat. Meanwhile, she stalks Carter online. She tries enjoying the days without Felix, but she is glad when he returns so she can switch lives. She asks him to go to the flat to collect some papers for her from the attic on his way home the following day.
