Sarah M. Broom
Sarah M. Broom is the author, narrator, and main character of The Yellow House. She was born on New Year's Eve 1979 as the youngest of Ivory and Simon Broom's twelve children. Sarah's father Simon passed away when she was just six months old so she grew up without a father. She was raised in New Orleans East in what she calls The Yellow House and lived there until she moved away for university and then began her adult life elsewhere. Sarah later returned to New Orleans as an adult on two separate occasions to try to establish a full-time life in her hometown.
