Chapters 7-9 Summary
In chapter seven, Milo checks in with Helen before continuing on the case. Milo visits with the county coroner, a friend of his father's, and learns that the autopsy on Raymond Duffy stated his death was caused by a routine overdose. Back at his office, Milo returns a call to Nickie and learns that he wants to hire him for a job. Milo goes back to the Riverside and Nickie tells him a friend of his has a mistress he wants watched while he is out of town. Milo insists on being paid up front for the job, and Nickie gives him an envelope with twenty-five hundred dollars inside. However, Nickie insists that Milo work on this case only, no others.
