Chapter 6 Summary
Milo sits in his office thinking about Helen and the case she has given him. As he thinks, Milo sees Simon cross the street in an overcoat that was once a favorite of Milo's father. When Milo's father died, his mother gave all his clothes to charity. For a time, Milo bought all the clothes back and burned them, but finally stopped when he realized the clothes would not bring his father back. Now Milo is pleased to see it is Simon who has finally ended up with his father's overcoat.
Part of the story Helen told Milo about her brother includes the fact that he lived with a professor from the university for a time that past summer. Milo calls a friend from the university and learns the professor's name was Elton Crider. Milo drives out to Crider's home, but finds him...
