Who was the narrator of this book? Evaluate the narrator's honesty.
Bridgett Davis is the narrator (and author), and she seemed to be honest and honorable as she related details of her life and how it intertwined with others, including her mother. Bridgett admitted that she was sometimes wrong, including relating the story of a time she let slip an important piece of information to one of Fannie's customers. The fact that she revealed her faults makes her seem to be honest. In addition, she provided research and information about other aspects of their lives and of historical events that took place at various times of her life. These true events may help some readers more readily accept Bridgett's personal narratives.
