Summary
In Chapter 1, Pyrrhus and the Greek soldiers are enclosed in the Trojan horse. Pyrrhus feels sick and wishes he were not afraid. He thinks of his father, Achilles, for courage. He sees the other leaders, Odysseus, Alcimus, and Automedon. He knows he is "an inexperienced commander," and they have been propping him up (3). He is determined to prove himself in this final battle.
Once at the gates, the men continue waiting inside the horse. They listen to the "murmur of Trojan voices" (6). Sinon, a Greek, convinces King Priam that the horse "is a votive offering and must be taken immediately to [Athena's] temple" (7). Once the horse is outside the temple, the Greeks burst out. Pyrrhus "breaks into a run" (10).
In Chapter 2, as Pyrrhus arrives at the throne room, he feels "his father's blood pounding through his veins” (11). Priam is inside. Pyrrhus introduces himself...
