Summary
In Chapter 28 Frankie writes to her friends telling them that she is pregnant and asking them to be in her wedding. She believes she can learn to love Henry. Henry and Frankie prepare a yellow nursery for their child. The couple has started having weekly dinners with Frankie’s parents, and one day she and Henry go into her father’s study where Henry looks at the hero’s wall. Frankie confronts her father, and he tells her that her wedding picture will go up there because her duty as a woman is to be a wife and mother, not to serve in the military. Henry comes in and tells them that the war is over.
